Now we’re looking for a Financial Controller who can help us grow with confidence, clarity, and control — someone who loves clean numbers, strong systems, and being right at the heart of a business that’s scaling with purpose.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll sit alongside the Chief Cake Tester as part of the senior team, helping shape decisions — while also rolling up your sleeves to make sure the day-to-day finance engine runs beautifully.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the financial health, integrity, and reporting of Dougies Goodies. You’ll bring rigour, insight, and commercial thinking to the leadership table — while also owning the details that keep everything accurate and compliant.

You’ll be trusted, listened to, and relied upon.

What You’ll Be Doing

Senior Team Support

• Partnering with the Chief Cake Tester and senior team on financial strategy
• Providing clear, insightful reporting to support decision-making
• Supporting pricing decisions/policies, margin analysis, and growth planning
• Helping shape funding conversations and investment decisions

Financial Control & Governance

• Provision of timely and accurate monthly management financial and information packs
• Creation of meaningful financial forecasts
• Ensuring robust financial controls and compliance
• Overseeing year-end processes and working with external accountants
• Managing tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax, etc.)
• Improving systems and processes as we scale

Hands-On Operations

• Overseeing day-to-day finance operations
• Managing accounts payable and receivable
• Cash flow management and working capital control
• Supporting payroll and finance admin
• Implementing and improving finance systems

This is not a “sit in the corner and report the numbers” role.

This is a “be part of building something meaningful” role.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience in a fast-growing SME (food, retail, FMCG, or similar is a bonus)
• Strong commercial awareness — you understand what drives margin and growth
• Comfortable moving between strategy and spreadsheets
• Detail-obsessed but commercially minded
• Calm under pressure
• Honest, grounded, and values-led
