1983
Back in 1983, a young lad named Dougie put on an apron, rolled up his sleeves, and
dove headfirst into the world of baking. Turns out, he had a real knack for it!
Before long, opportunity came knocking, and Dougie opened his very own bakery
in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
Word spread fast (as did the irresistible scent of his cakes), and what started as a one-man show quickly became a full-blown operation - more hands, more ovens, and a whole lot more flour! Soon, Dougies Goodies outgrew its "wee bakery" roots, transforming into a bustling coffee and bakehouse.
Let the Goodies do the talking!
The bakery operation has now moved from a 2000 square foot building to a 20,000 square foot cake factory located at 17-19 Church Street. On October 11, 2024 after much anticipation we opened another bakery retail space in Belfast city centre. Located at 51-53 Fountain Street we brought our goodies to the heart of the city for more people to enjoy.
Swing by, grab some goodies, and taste the tradition with a twist. You can also find our products on the shelves of retail partner stores across Northern Ireland!
